With most of you involved in middle school basketball, I want to encourage each of to be leaders on and off the court. I also want to caution you against picking up bad habits of others or doing what you may be able to get away with. Use your middle school practice as an opportunity to prepare yourself for AAU, and not simply to get through the experience. Make it work for you and get the most out of it.
With our first competitive event less than one month away, it is very important for you all to mentally focus on all of the drills, skills, plays, positions, positioning, shooting, dribbling and passing mechanics, defensive, offensive and transition plays, communication, situation, personnel and time management.
Do not, do not clown around and horse play. Stand out front and be outstanding. Lead from the front and have fun doing it.
Do some extra conditioning to get prepared and do not assume that this year will be like the last. I can assure you that it will not be like the last. It will better. It will be more challenging and demanding, we will work harder than before. We will take it to not another level but another dimension.
